Xenoboy
An umbrella term under the xenic umbrella for boys or masc-aligned people who identify with one or more xenogenders.

Papiliogender
A xenogender, specifically a faunagender, (a gender that is connected to a specific animal) in which one's gender feels strongly connected to moths and mothcore.

Crypgender
Crypgender is a xenogender in which one identifies with or group themselves with cryptids. This can be used as a standalone term, or be paired with other terms such as crypgirl, crypboy, etc. One may also be kin with a cryptid, or this may be used as a kingender identity (a gender connected to a character/animal you kin)

Autigenderpunk
A subtype of autigender that is connected to punk culture, and/or being genderpunk as well. Autigender is a xenogender exclusively for autistic people who have a unique experience with their gender identity and relationship with the idea of gender overall due to being autistic. (Autistics often have trouble understanding social rules and constructs)

Genderpunk/genderf*ck
Genderf*ck, also known as genderpunk, is a term for a gender as well as a declared opposition to gendernormativity. It is an identity based on being against and showing resistance to gender norms, homophobia and transphobia, and oppression and societal status. One's gender can have nothing to do with being punk.

Evilcatgender
Aliencatgender
Mothmangender
A gender connected to the North American cryptid Mothman, or simply when one wants to incorporate the cryptid story into their gender to better understand their identity. This can manifest as a kingender, but it isn't necessarily one. It was originally coined with neurodivergent people in mind, but it is not exclusive. It is a faunagender (a gender connected to a certain animal).

What are Xenogenders?
"Xenogender" is an umbrella term for gender identities that are more specifc, personal, and often lesser known than more common terms like "nonbinary" or simply "boy"/"girl". They are often created by and for neurodivergent and people with mental illnesses.
Why are they a thing?
Those with mental illnesses can have confusion around their identity, for various reasons, common ones being having a warped sense of self and/or confusion about one's identity caused by trauma, anxiety, depression, etc.
Xenogenders can be comforting, as they exist with the intent of feeling like a more accurate description of one's identity, giving those who'd previously felt unstable about their identity or life in general a sense of security.
This aspect of comfort is shown particularly through kingenders(genders relating to characters/animals/things people kin) and aesthetigenders (genders relating to specific aesthetics) as they are connecting gender to what people like and value.Likewise, many neurodivergent people, especially autistics, also have trouble understanding gender and/or have a different view on it than most due to our brains processing and understanding things differently. We can especially have trouble understanding social constructs, gender being one of them.
Xenogenders are nice because they break things down or relate gender to things besides the gender binary itself. Rather than having to identify exclusively as something stemming from a concept you don't understand you can label your gender as something relating to another aspect of your identity- be it our favorite colors or styles, an animal you love, or what have you.
Even xenogenders that do have to do with the more known concept of gender are more than just labels for made up societal roles. They take into account all the factors that go into how people usually would use to define their gender and separate them and call them what they are.Gender is an extremely complex idea and how masculine and/or feminine someone is is determined by so many things. But the reality is, gender can't simply be defined by clothing, body parts, or the way people act. It is the combination of these things and the way the individual feels and views those things that determine what their gender is. Gender is a culture, that has decades of complex history. The way it is defined and determined has changed and developed countless times. It is great if you have a somewhat clear idea of where you lie on this vast spectrum, and you don't have to dive deep into the details and history of what gender really is. You just need to know that the history is there, and respect it.
